City St George’s, University of London is a dynamic new institution formed by the merger of City, University of London and St George’s, University of London in August 2024. Located across three campuses in Clerkenwell, Moorgate and Tooting, the university brings together over 125 years of history and expertise in professional education, healthcare, and research. The voluntary merger has created one of the largest higher education institutions in London, with a distinctive focus on practice-led learning and research at the frontier of industry and healthcare.

City St George’s has one of the highest proportions of postgraduate students of any UK university. Most of the courses at the undergraduate level include a work placement, offering a fantastic opportunity for students to gain work experience while they study. Since 1976 City has been home to a centre for the education of journalists, the highly regarded Department of Journalism. It is regarded as one of the best universities in the UK for the study of journalism, as well as the nation's largest centre for journalism education.
International students are supported by a dedicated team of International Student Advisors based in the Student Centre. These advisors offer expert guidance before and during students’ time at the University. Orientation events, school-led inductions and welcome programmes ensure students feel part of the community from day one. The newly merged City St George’s Students’ Union also runs a variety of cultural societies and hosts events throughout the year to help students connect and thrive.
City St George’s is now recognised as a top 400 world university, with several subjects ranked in the global top 200. Communications and Media continue to perform strongly, along with Nursing, Midwifery, and Social Work. The University also holds a strong reputation in Music, in partnership with the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
Following REF 2021, City St George’s has climbed 12 places to 39th in the UK (excluding specialist institutions). The proportion of research rated world-leading (4*) has nearly doubled to 40% since REF 2014.
First-year undergraduate students are guaranteed a place in one of the six University halls of residence, all within walking distance of the Clerkenwell and Moorgate campuses. Rooms include internet and telephone access, and students can also explore a wide range of private accommodation across London. The University’s Accommodation Team offers support and an online platform to help students find suitable private housing.
City, University of London's campus is located in Islington. It is less than 2km away from many famous London landmarks, like St. Paul’s Cathedral, The British Museum and the River Thames.
Connections to Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted can also be accessed via the main train stations of Liverpool Street, King’s Cross and London Bridge, all within close distance of the City campuses and halls.
